EHCA Hosts A Designathon!
EHCA is on a mission to develop an Embry Hills community magnet. The EHCA magnet will be a 4 inch circular, flexible magnet that can be placed on your vehicle, refrigerator, laptop, toolbox, you name it. They are a great way to show you are part of this wonderful community and help EHCA raise a few bucks along the way.
If you are the creative type and are looking for an opportunity to help define this wonderful community we call home, consider participating in the EHCA Designathon, here is how to participate.
Contest Info and Rules:
- Official Submission Period: November 8, 2024 through December 4, 2024
- All entries must be received by 5pm December 4th 2024, one submission per individual
- Entries must be submitted by an Embry Hills resident
- Entries must be sent via email to: embryhillscivicassociation@gmail.com
- Magnet size = 4 inch diameter, Shape = circle, Colors = (any of) Green, Black, White
- Entries must shared in one of the following file formats: jpeg, gif, png or Vector
- Entries should include a brief description of the design along with any community specific design influences
- The Embry Hills community will vote, via email, on the designs December 5th through December 11th
- The winning design will be announced by December 16th and featured in our Q4 newsletter
- The winner of the EHCA Designathon will be gifted a $25 Publix Gift Card
- All designs submitted may be used by EHCA in various mediums or marketing programs
- Participation in this Designathon is acceptance of these terms and conditions

Our History
IN THE BEGINNING
Embry Hills community was built in the mid 1950s by the three sibling developers (Jack, James and Neal Embry). The neighborhood is located in unincorporated DeKalb County, south of Doraville, east of Chamblee and north of Tucker nestled at the intersection of I-85 and I-285. With many of it's residents recent to the community, Embry Hills is home to families who have spent their entire lives in or nearby this wonderful community
EMBRY'S CHARM
Embry Hills is home to many small businesses, apartment communities and single family homes. This suburban neighborhood, located inside the perimeter provides enormous character and charm. Neighborhood streets wind through mid-century and traditional homes with beautifully crafted yards, a network of creeks twist through the community that borders the Mercer University campus. Neighbors are invited to join the Embry Hills Swim/Tennis Club, support our Neighborhood Watch program or simply stroll our neighborhood streets and connect with friends.
WHO WE ARE TODAY
Today the Embry Hills Civic Association serves approximately 370 homes and the Embry Hills Apartments on Embry Circle. The association has a board of directors that focus on community issues that span local government organizations, community groups to help promote the interests of Embry Hills homeowners and residents.
Our Vision
The Embry Hills Civic Association is a community organization developed and joined together for collective action on community affairs. Its objectives are to preserve, enhance, and plan for the orderly development of the neighborhood and to promote the general welfare, safety & civic spirit of the community.
Why Support EHCA?
The Embry Hills Civic Association (EHCA) was formed in 2001 by a group of Embry Hills residents who wanted to discern the needs and concerns of the neighborhood, mobilize talents and resources of the residents in order to address those needs and concerns, and foster a great sense of community among Embry Hills residents and businesses.
Over the years EHCA has been focused on community issues such as zoning and infrastructure needs. The founding Association's initial act was addressing Embry Hills' omission from the I-285 sound barrier project. EHCA successfully petitioned the Georgia Department of Transportation to extend the I-285 sound barriers along the full length of Embry Hills' interstate frontage.
In 2008 the EHCA was involved in a county-wide effort to successfully reduce alcohol serving hours from 4 a.m. to 2-2:30 a.m. at late night establishments in DeKalb. Another success was marked by putting an end to a non-compliant bus depot operating in a nearby parking lot. With many other zoning successes under the belt, EHCA continues to monitor the enveloping business community to ensure that all is in the best interest of Embry Hills.
Fast forward to 2021, Embry Hills continues to grow, our neighborhood has become diverse and a destination for families and businesses alike. In early 2021, EHCA installed a new entrance boulder sign at the main entrance at Chamblee-Tucker Road and Embry Circle, replacing the previous sign destroyed by a vehicle in 2019. In mid 2021, EHCA installed new street sign toppers which recognize Embry Hills' historic character and solidify its footprint. EHCA has initiated a community newsletter and launched this website.
EHCA's voice on both a local and regional basis is more important than ever. The association is working with county leadership to address road conditions, infrastructure improvements and SPLOST funds usage. Oversight continues to be required for zoning issues, potential new city or annexation propositions, the Peachtree Creek Greenway, school redistricting discussions and the I-285 Top End Express Lanes project.
We are just getting started, EHCA is working hard for the Embry Hills community and building an active membership is crucial to its success. Please join the Association and contribute annual dues, consider serving on the Board of Directors or volunteering to serve on a committee. The board is also planning seasonal events; if you are interested in supporting any of these activities, please contact us.
